Use | Introduction: A DNA synthesis inhibitor developed by the neglected diseases drug program in collaboration with Sanofi for oral treatment of human African trypanosomiasis (HAT) and Chagas disease and is the first full oral treatment, both for the first stage of the HAT and for the worm crossing the blood-brain barrier, the second stage of neuropsychiatric symptoms in the patient. Non-cotinidazole is a 5-nitroimidazole derivative originally discovered by HoechstAG and identified as active against Trypanosoma brucei and Trypanosoma roxburghii by DNDi in 2005. |
